Short Term Goal

 

  • The short term objective of Jangling Heritage Retreat Monastery is to guide the youths and uphold the ancient wisdom of the Buddha.
  • Jangling Heritage Retreat Monastery is located on a hilltop in the village of Kuduphu in Paro, Western Bhutan at 2400 meters above sea level.
  • The renowned Heritage Monastery was founded by His Holiness Jangtrul Pethrin Rinpoche over a Five hundred years ago.
  • The 2009 Bhutan earthquake was a 6.3 magnitude earthquake that occurred at 14:53 local time on 21 September 2009 in the regions of Bhutan. The epicenter was situated at 180 km east of the capital Thimphu, in Mongar District. Bangladesh and India also felt it, with buildings in Guwahati, Assam, cracking up.   The tremors were felt as far as Tibet.
  • All the ancient Buddha statues and historical relics were totally unharmed and remained intact after the quake.  There were no casualties and all the monks of Jangling Heritage Monastery survived the earthquake.
  • Jangling Foundation is now appealing for sponsors and donors to support the preservation of infrastructure of the Jangling Heritage Monastery, which plays an important role in the daily lives of the local community as well as to enable all to continue their Dharma practice and activities.
